Ribeira Sacra

The Ribeira Sacra is a particular region of the interior of Galicia that brings together an important collection of medieval monasteries , we will visit them as well as the canyons of the river Sil and its famous heroic viticulture, which dates all the way back from Roman times. Catamaran ride through the river sil and tasting of the famous wines of the ribeira sacra, with designation of origin.

The name “Ribeira Sacra” could come from the Middle Ages and, initially, it was thought that the origin of its cult would be in the Latin “Rivoira Sacrata” and that it could respond to the large number of monasteries and temples located in the monumental canyons and steep slopes that mark the area. Currently you can visit 18 monasteries.

The Cañón del Sil is a gorge excavated by the river Sil, closely met by the Miño, in the area of the Ribeira Sacra.

The canyon can be traveled by catamaran, from which you can to appreciate spectacular reflections of the landscape in the water and also its slopes, of more than 500 meters in some points, and with slopes of more than 50 degrees, sometimes almost vertical. On the walls that form the canyons we find vineyards of the Ribeira Sacra Denomination of Origin that reach the water.
